As we flip the calendar to 2026, the City Arborist group is entering the new year with momentum carried over from a dynamic 2025- a year of ground breaking initiatives, community investments, stronger connections, and, of course more trees.
Roots That Took Hold In 2025
2025 was truly a year of growth and long-term investment.
A major milestone for the city was the launch of our new street tree outreach campaign, a big first that put street tree requests directly into the hands of Charlotte residents. You may have received a mailer from Charlotte’s Landscape Management explaining how to request a tree in front of your home!
Designed by the City Arborist group, this campaign empowered residents to request street trees on their own terms. The response was incredible with over 300 tree requests submitted! Thank you to everyone who participated. And if you think you missed your chance, don’t worry, there are more opportunities on the way, and you can request a tree using the link at the bottom of this page.

Community engagement was the name of the game in 2025. Pollinator events, Tree by Tree mapping, a Monarch celebration, and hands-on workshops brought the people of Charlotte together with a shared goal: strengthening Charlotte through education, stewardship, and sustainability. With over 20 events hosted and more than 1,000 participants, these programs did more than raise awareness – they built relationships, inspired action, and reinforced Charlotte’s growing culture of environmental care.
What’s Sprouting for 2026
According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2026 is the Year of the Horse. That means forward momentum, bold moves, and yes, MORE TREES. The City Arborist Group already has events lined up, with even more on the horizon. This year, our focus is expanding how we connect with the Charlotte community. Expect more blog posts, more tree ID videos, new initiatives, and even more opportunities to get involved with Landscape Management. 2026 is about moving forward together—growing knowledge, growing canopy, and growing community.

Looking Ahead
Our story from 2025 into 2026 is one of expansion and community, where community development, sustainability, and teamwork all come together. Whether this is your first year in Charlotte, or you’re a long-time resident, we hope to see you at more events this coming year to help us keep Charlotte the wonderful City of Trees that is. Here’s to 2026!
